The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), an alliance of 57 Muslim countries, unanimously passed a resolution on the issue of Indian-controlled Kashmir. The proposal was approved at a recent meeting of the foreign ministers of the allied countries. However, India has rejected the proposal as unfounded. The alliance approved the proposal at the behest of Pakistan, Delhi alleged. The Times of India reported this information.

A meeting of OIC foreign ministers was recently held in Niger. The Kashmir issue was not on the main agenda of the two-day meeting. However, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Niger raised the issue in talks on the first day. The resolution, which was later passed at the end of the meeting, expressed unanimous support for Muslims in Indian-controlled Kashmir. He also called for the withdrawal of the decision to revoke the special status of Kashmir.

India’s Foreign Ministry rejected the proposal and issued a strong statement. The statement said that the Kashmir issue was an internal Indian affair. The OCI has no right to intervene here. The statement claimed that Kashmir was an undivided part of India.

The statement said it was regrettable that the OIC was still approving its use for one country. Pointing to Pakistan, the statement read: “The country has an atrocious record of religious tolerance, extremism and persecution of minorities and propaganda against India.” India advises the OIC to refrain from making such comments in the future.
