It is speculated that there may be some records in the Bengali channel swimming this year. 7-year-old swimmer Kshitindra Chandra Vaishya participates in this swim. If successful, he will be the oldest swimmer to cross the Bangladesh Channel. So far the record holder is Dhaka swimmer Mizanur Rahman. He crossed the canal in 2019 at the age of 7. This time he does not participate.

The Lipton government crossed the canal 14 times in a row from 2008 to last year. If it crosses this time, it will record 15 times in a row. Among the 43 swimmers this year, there are 1 foreigner, 2 women and 2 policemen. Last year, 31 swimmers crossed the Bangladesh Channel.

The co-organizers of this year’s Bangla Channel Swimming are the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and the Tourism Board, the main sponsor is Fortune Group, the sponsor is Visa Thing and NCC Bank, the partners are Dhaka University, Studio Dhaka and Sharjah and the Bangladesh Coast Guard is the rescue partner.

The late Kazi Hamidul Haque, famous for his adventures, discovered this Bengali channel in the Bay of Bengal suitable for swimming in the sea. Lipton Sarkar, Fazlul Kabir and Salman Saeed first swam on the Bangla Channel in 2006.
