Two Dhaka University professors have been fired for failing to join the university at the end of their study leave. The union has allowed another teacher from the same department named Anup Kumar Saha to join. Sharmin Jahan, a university registry assistant involved in the mask scandal, has also been suspended.

The decision was made at the highest union meeting of the policy-making forum at the university on Sunday. Several members of the university union have confirmed the matter.

Union members said the committee formed on behalf of the university in the case of Sharmin Jahan, Dhaka University’s assistant registrar, indicted in the mask scandal at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU), has confirmed his suspension order. The decision will be made after the verdict as the case is pending in court.
