A group of BNP leaders and activists have inked the new name (Mogultuli High School) after renaming Ziaur Rahman High School in Mogaltuli in the Bangshal area of ​​Old Dhaka.

On Sunday (November 29) at noon, the chairman of the party’s Dhaka Metropolitan South Committee, Habibun Nabi Khan Sohail, led a protest procession from the school gate to ink the new name. A witness told the Bengali Tribune that the leaders and activists of a BNP procession went to the school gate around 12:15 pm Sunday and stained it with ink.

Several BNP activists said the leaders and activists started the procession from the Bangshal crossing on Sunday morning. From there they pass in front of the school in the Mughaltuli area. BNP workers and supporters started protesting there. This time, agitated workers removed the changed nameplate from the school. The procession was led by the President of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohail. Furthermore, Ishraq Hossain, son of Sadek Hossain Khoka was also in the procession.

The protest procession later went to Nawabpur Road and held a street demonstration. There, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohail said: “The name of Ziaur Rahman cannot be erased from people’s minds simply by changing the name of the school. Such heinous acts will not be accepted by the common people of the country. The protest that has started will continue.

Engineer Ishraq Hossain said the school was established on March 25, 2006 in the name of Ziaur Rahman by the late Sadek Hossain Khoka, a former mayor of undivided Dhaka.

In this regard, BNP President’s media wing member Shairul Kabir Khan told the Bengali Tribune: “The name change started with the renaming of Dhaka International Airport after the 2008 elections. airport was Zia International Airport. After that, the Ziaur Rahman name was removed from various establishments across the country.

Shairul Kabir said that Ziaur Rahman’s name has already been removed from various establishments, including schools in Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, Barisal, Bogra, Narayanganj and other areas.

In this regard, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in a statement on Saturday: “The fascist regime has not been able to erase Shaheed Zia’s name from the hearts of the people after hundreds of attempts in the last 12 years. Ziaur Rahman is a mass leader, a successful statesman of the country. He has taken place in the hearts of the masses for his politics and programs for the welfare of the masses. Anyone who tries to erase his name will be thrown into the dustbin of history ‘.

Incidentally, the Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP will hold a protest rally on Monday morning (November 30) in front of the National Press Club to remove Zia’s name from various facilities.
