The time for filing income tax returns will not be extended, said the president of the National Revenue Board (NBR) Abu Hena. Rahmatul Munim. Responding to a question at a press conference at NBR headquarters here on Sunday morning, he said the last day to submit statements is November 30.
Coronavirus infections have increased at an alarming rate in recent weeks. Given this situation, taxpayers think that the time to file returns should be extended, he added, adding that a penalty of two percent is not mandatory if the income statement is not filed within the stipulated time. The fine will not apply if reasonable reasons can be shown. Commissioners have been asked to be flexible.
Abu Hena said. Rahmatul Munim said that 13 lakh 30 thousand statements have been filed as of November 28 this year. This time last year there were 12 lakh 57 thousand returns. However, the income tax has decreased by Rs 193 crore at the same time.
NBR organizes the National Income Tax Day since 2006 and the Income Tax Fair since 2010. The income tax fair is not held this year because of the cowardly situation. Taxpayers will be able to file income tax returns until November 30. This service is provided on a priority basis.
Declaration acceptance, TIN issuance and tax information services are provided in all offices in the country’s tax region. Taxpayers receive a receipt immediately after filing the return.
