The Awami Ulema League of Bangladesh has called the position against the sculpture of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a misinterpretation of religion and against the spirit of the liberation war.
The leaders made the remarks in a human chain organized by the Preparatory Committee for the National Conference of the Ulema League in front of the National Press Club on Saturday.
The speakers said that there will be no place for any militant-communal evil in the country. I have noticed that an anti-independent clique is using the name of Islam to mislead people by making misleading statements about the sculpture of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The sculpture carries the culture and tradition of a nation. By opposing the installation of the Bangabandhu sculpture, they reiterated their stance against independence during the great war of liberation.
Mufti Masum Billah Nafi, secretary member of the Ulema League conference preparation committee, said: “InshaAllah, just as everyone, regardless of religion, caste or creed, gained their independence by participating in the war in 1971, they will still resist this common evil. ” Jamaat-Shibir and Hefazat-e-Islam have become the same as the subject of the Bangabandhu sculpture. This is its former nature. Even his predecessors did not want freedom.
He also said that during the liberation war they spoke out for Pakistan. Several organizations, including Al-Badr, Al-Sams, Al-Rajakar, and Shanti Bahini, were formed against independence. He also carried out various advertisements around the world to question the liberation war. Red-green Bangladesh was created overcoming all adversities through the Mujibnagar government under the leadership of the Father of the Nation. Therefore, no evil power can confuse the Bengali nation by using Islam as a shield by conducting community activities.
Maulana Asaduzzaman, Ulema League Joint Coordinator and Spokesperson, Hafeez Maulana Anwar Hossain Jewel, Mufti Alim Vijay Nagri, Maulana Abdul Quddus, Maulana Abdur Rahim Mufi also spoke on the occasion.
