The body of Tanvir Ahmed Jisan, a university student from Mohammadpur in Dhaka, was dumped in Padma after the killing, said five defendants arrested in connection with the killing.

Shibalaya Police Inspector (Investigation) Ashish Kumar Sannal, the investigating officer in the case, said the defendant had confessed to the murder in court and made a statement under section 164. On Friday, the court ordered the two two days of preventive detention after the defendant requested pretrial detention for questioning.

The detainees in the case are Rabbi Hossain Prantik (18) from the Pachuria area of ​​Shibalaya in Manikganj, Nazmul (18) from the village of Chhota Shakrail, Sharif Hossain (16) from the same village, Azizul (18) and Hasibul Hasan (18) from Dhakajura.

The deceased was identified as Jisan, son of Shahin Alam, a businessman from the Mohammadpur Kaderabad area of ​​Dhaka. Jisan was a student of the XI class of Mohammadpur Haji Mukbul Hossain Degree College.

According to police sources, on 15 November Tanvir Ahmed (Jisan) left Dhaka saying that he was going to Nana’s home. It has not been found since. On November 23, Jisan’s family filed a GD at the Mohammadpur Police Station. Meanwhile, the police recovered the body of an unidentified young man from the Padma River near Paturia Ghat in Manikganj on November 18 and sent him to the morgue. Later, Anjuman Mofidul Islam buried the body. On November 25, Jisan’s family saw the young man’s clothes at the morgue and confirmed Jisan’s body. Zeeshan’s father filed a murder case at the Shibalaya Police Station on November 28. The police raided the area of ​​the police station that night and arrested Hasibul Hasan and Azizul involved in the incident. According to his information, three more people were arrested.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Shibalaya Circle) Tania Sultana said those arrested said some of Jisan’s friends took Rabbi’s mobile phone and insulted him. The enraged rabbi took Jisan to visit his area from Dhaka on November 15. In the afternoon of the same day, Jisan was taken off on two motorcycles. At night, the rabbi and his accomplices stabbed Jisan to death on the banks of the Padma near the Paturia Ferry Ghat truck terminal, tied his hands and feet, and threw his body into the river.

Jisan’s family wants exemplary punishment for the murderers. Jisan’s mother, Samia Begum, shouted in court: “No one else like me should have their mother’s chest empty.”
