Dhaka: The Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that the uninvited controversy over the Bangabandhu sculpture could have a different purpose.
The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges warned that any attempt to disturb the peace considering the simplicity of the government as a weakness will be severely repressed.
Referring to the imaginary interpretation of the sculpture as a challenge to the spirit of the liberation war and the culture of the country, he said that a sectarian religious group was trying to spread hatred in the minds of religious people by misinterpreting Islam in the sculpture of Bangabandhu, the architect of independent Bangladesh. In the post-independence period, Bangabandhu established the Islamic Foundation to conduct research and practice on Islam in this country.
The secretary general of the Awami League further said that Bangabandhu gave land to Tabligh Jamaat to spread Islam, including reorganizing the Madrasa Board to spread religious education. Mosque complex.
Obaidul Quader said this at a press conference from his official residence on Saturday (November 26).
He said there was no reason to believe that there would be anti-Islamic activities in the country when a devoted Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, was in charge of running the government.
Obaidul Quader said that those who have propagated sculpture as idols are themselves in error, the country’s scholars and experts have already repeatedly said that idols and sculptures are not one.
He said: “Islam is our religion. There is no room to exaggerate religious issues in the rules of this religion.” Debates on religious questions have been discouraged and sedition banned.
Obaidul Quader also believes that some religious leaders are arrogantly saying that they will drag the sculpture of the architect from Bangladesh.
The words ‘Tamasila’ in verse 13 of Surah Saba and ‘Asnam’ in verse 35 of Surah Ibrahim are not the same. Hence, commentators think that Tamasila means sculpture and Asnam means idol worship. Obaidul Quader said that these two words have been misinterpreted on purpose. He called on everyone to refrain from exaggerating religion by calling for the practice of true Islam.
Asking people not to use religion in political matters, Obaidul Quader said: “Do not think of the simplicity of government as a weakness. The people will resist any attempt to destroy the peace of the people.” The spirit of the liberation war, anti-constitutional and anti-state rhetoric will not be tolerated.
The secretary general of the Awami League further said that the head of government has already said that there will be no anti-Quran-Sunnah law in the country. Therefore, the government will crack down on any attempt to destroy religious tolerance by bringing religious issues to the fore without finding any other avenue. I call on all those who believe in the independence of the country and in the spirit of the liberation war to unite against anti-liberation activities.
