The boy’s mother, Fatema Khatun, had been complaining that she had put a small mosquito net on the verandah around 12 noon on Thursday to put the boy to sleep. He fell ill and fell asleep next to Sohan. When he woke up 15-20 minutes later, he saw that there were no children in the mosquito net. The child has not been found since.
Satkhira Sadar Circle Additional Police Superintendent Mirza Salah Uddin said the incident came to light during preliminary questioning of Sohan’s mother, Fatema Khatun, last night. Her husband, Sohag Hossain, took the baby from her and flushed it into the septic tank of the toilet. Later she told everyone who had stolen her baby.
The police officer said the doctor’s advice showed that baby Sohan had been suffering from various illnesses, including jaundice and pneumonia since birth. Without it, the baby is born a month before the expected date. His weight was also much less. The idea was that the child was disabled. For these reasons, it is believed that the boy’s father killed him.
Satkhira Sadar Police Officer in Charge (CO) Asaduzzaman confirmed the incident and said that the boy’s body was kept at the Satkhira Sadar Police Station. The autopsy will take place at the Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue on Saturday.
