Mohsen was killed in a covert attack near Tehran on Friday.

According to the BBC, Mohsen, who was injured in the attack by armed terrorists on the Iranian nuclear scientist’s car at Abzard in the Damavand area, could not be rescued even after being transferred to hospital.

Hussein Degan, military adviser to Iran’s supreme religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini, vowed to strike at those involved in the attack like lightning.

The country’s Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif, has called on the international community to “condemn this terrorist act by the State” by pointing the finger at Israel for the murder.

According to Western intelligence, Fakirzadeh was the head of Iran’s secret nuclear weapons program.

However, Tehran has always claimed that the purpose of its nuclear program is peaceful.

Majid Takht Ravanchi, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, also hinted that foreign powers, particularly Israel, may be behind the killings.

He said that Mohsen’s murder was a clear violation of international law. He also said that the incident was carried out to destabilize the Middle East.

The BBC reports that senior Iranian officials have accused Israel of being involved in the murder of the nuclear scientist, but so far there has been no Israeli response.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appointed Mohsen Fakirzadeh in May 2016 when he complained about Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

Netanyahu said at the time that Mohsen was working on special projects for Iran’s Defense Ministry and that he would “remember” the name.

Iran’s top nuclear scientist assassinated

Between 2010 and 2012, four Iranian nuclear scientists died. Iran has also accused Israel of being involved in the killings.

Observers say that no matter who is responsible for the attack on Mohsen, tensions between Iran and the United States are likely to rise before the departure of US President Donald Trump.

Iran’s top nuclear scientist has died amid renewed Western concerns about Tehran’s uranium enrichment levels. The level of uranium enrichment is crucial in both civil nuclear power generation and weapons programs.

Although the 2015 agreement with the six world powers apparently forced Iran to curb its nuclear program, Tehran also began violating various terms of the agreement after Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement two years ago.

After becoming president of the United States in January, Biden has expressed interest in withdrawing Washington from the Iran deal, despite Israeli objections.

John Brennan, the former head of the CIA, fears that Mohsen’s assassination could further aggravate the situation in the Middle East.

The influential former intelligence official also said he did not know if any foreign governments were involved in the incident.
