Such an embarrassing day has never come to the life of Indian spinner Yuzbendra Chahal. No other spinner in the history of Indian cricket has felt so embarrassed. In the first ODI of the series against Australia in Sydney, the Indian spinner A-leg had a sour taste, surpassing himself in the record for expensive bowling.
Chahal took 1 wicket in 10 overs. But he has spent 69 runs. In other words, this Indian leg clamp has given around 9 runs (6.9) per over.
No Indian spinner has scored as many runs against an opponent in an ODI. The previous record was also held by Chahal. In June 2019, he was wicketless with 6 runs in 10 overs against England in Birmingham.
After Chahal, another leg spinner, Piyush Chawla, has a record as a spinner. In 2008 he scored 75 runs in 10 overs at Mirpur.
Chahal is the fourth most expensive bowler in terms of speed and spin in India. In 2015, Bhubaneswar Kumar set the record with 106 runs in 10 overs against South Africa. Another fast bowler Binoy Kumar scored 102 runs in 9 overs against Australia in 2013. In 2016, Bhubaneswar again scored 92 runs in 10 overs against New Zealand.
