A murder case has been filed against four doctors from the urology department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) two years after the death of a patient who had two kidneys removed instead of one. Professor Habibur Rahman Dulal of the Department of Urology has become the main defendant in the case.
The other defendants are Assistant Professor Farooq Hossain, Dr. Mostafa Kamal and Dr. Al Mamun.
Film director Rafiq Sikder, son of victim Raushan Ara, brought the case to the Shahbagh Police Station on Friday after receiving an autopsy report two years later.
SM Shamim, deputy commissioner of the Ramna area police, told Jugantar that a murder case had been registered against four BSMMU doctors on the basis of an autopsy report.
Rafiq Sikder, son of victim Raushan Ara, said that on July 1, 2016, his mother Raushan Ara was admitted to BSMMU with a kidney infection. Shortly after being sent home after treatment, he was called to the hospital and told that his mother’s left kidney had to be removed. Later, on September 5 of that year, the kidney was removed after surgery. Later, another hospital examination revealed that the patient’s right kidney had also been removed. Little by little his physical condition began to deteriorate.
Rafiq Sikder said that Dr. Habibur Rahman confessed to the crime in writing and agreed with them that he would do the kidney transplant on his own. But you have wasted your time. On the other hand, he left his mother in a coma in the life support of the ICU of the BSMMU Hospital. My mother died there on the night of October 31.
Rafiq Sikder further said there was a delay in obtaining the autopsy report. Doctors were probably influencing him in some way. Due to this, so far no complaint has been filed with the police station.
According to Raushan Ara’s family, some doctors from BSMMU’s urology department cut both Raushan Ara’s kidneys and sold them. This is where a 12-year-old boy died, who was given a completely healthy kidney, but after the transplant, doctors said the kidney was also damaged. When Raushan Ara was admitted, the hospital doctor said. Mamun’s mother was admitted. He also had two damaged kidneys. After treatment, you are now completely healed. They want a proper investigation into this incident.
Meanwhile, the police say the murder case has been taken up after analyzing the plaintiff’s allegations and the autopsy report. Now according to the law, the case will be investigated and the necessary actions will be taken.
