Iran’s state media say armed assailants fired at Mohsen’s car. He died after being taken to hospital with injuries.

Western intelligence agencies have long suspected that Mohsen is the mastermind behind Iran’s secret nuclear weapons program. Diplomats called him the “father of the Iranian bomb.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif condemned Mohsen’s assassination as “state terrorism.”

According to the BBC, Mohsen was the head of a research and innovation organization in Iran’s Ministry of Defense.

The ministry said in a statement to state media on Friday that Mohsen’s bodyguards clashed with armed terrorists when they opened fire on his vehicle. When Mohsen was seriously injured, he was rushed to hospital.

But, unfortunately, the medical team could not save him, this scientist, who works and struggles for years, was martyred a few minutes ago.

Iran’s semi-official news agency Fars said the terrorists blew up another car before shooting at scientist Mohsen’s car in the city of Abzard, a short distance from Tehran.

Whoever is responsible for this attack, before the departure of US President Donald Trump, such an incident will definitely increase the tension between Iran and the United States.

Hussein Degan, a military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and an army commander, has vowed to retaliate against Mohsen Fakirzadeh’s assassins.

In a tweet, the Iranian commander said: “We will strike the murderers of these martyrs with lightning, so that they are punished for their actions.”

Between 2010 and 2012, four Iranian nuclear scientists died. Iran has accused Israel of being involved in the killings.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appointed Mohsen Fakirzadeh in May 2016 when he complained about Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

Netanyahu said at the time that Mohsen was working on special projects for Iran’s Defense Ministry and that he would “remember” the name.
