Chittagong: Juba League and Chhatra League leaders and activists have taken a stand at Chittagong airport by declaring resistance to Maulana Mamunul Haque, the leader of Hefazat-e-Islam, for making anti-sculpture comments against Bangabandhu.
They took position on the road at the entrance of the airport starting at 8:30 am on Friday (November 26).
Juba League leaders and activists led by Mohiuddin Bachchu, convenor of the Mahanagar Juba League, chanted slogans against Mamunul Haque.
The leaders and activists of the Paten Thana Chhatra League are conducting a sit-down program under the leadership of the Mahanagar Chhatra League.
Earlier on Thursday (November 28) at an anti-militancy rally in front of the Chittagong Press Club, BCL leaders and activists declared their resistance to Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque in Chittagong.
Zakaria Dastagir, general secretary of the Mahanagar Chhatra League, told banglanews that Mamunul Haque, who threatened to destroy the Father of the Nation and his sculpture, would not be able to go to Chittagong. This religious businessman Mamunul Haque has been repeatedly identified as the enemy of the nation with provocative statements. So the people of Chittagong rejected it with hatred.
Zakaria Dastagir said that the leaders and activists of the Painet League Thana Chhatra have been standing at the airport entrance since 8:30 am. Our other units have also been given responsibility. Our leaders and workers are also stationed at the Dewanhat and Oxygen crossings.
Mohiuddin Bachchu, coordinator of the Mahanagar Juba League, told banglanews that fundamentalist Mamunul Haque will not be allowed to enter Chittagong. We are stationed in different parts of the city to resist it. Hundreds of Juba League leaders and activists have been stationed at the airport entrance since the morning. We also have leaders and activists in the City Gate area.
