SSC and HSC may be delayed Minister The Minister of Education requests admission to the university in the group system
Due to the corona virus infection in Bangladesh, the Ministry of Education has decided that all classes in schools will be admitted by lottery instead of exams. Admission via lottery will be completed between January 10-15. Details of the process will be announced before December 6. The education minister told this information at a virtual press conference on Wednesday. Dipu Moni.
The Education Minister said questions about admitting students to schools often arise. Transparency can also be guaranteed if supported by lottery. Explaining the reason for the decision to enter the lottery, the minister said: “We had three options in front of us.” One, take the students to school and take the entrance exam. But coronavirus infections are on the rise, so we don’t want to take that risk. There was an online admission test option. But it wasn’t accepted because many people don’t have the benefit or opportunity to use online. Every year the first class is admitted by lottery. However, this time we have decided that all classes will be admitted by lottery instead of exam. He said that the entire application process will be online.
In the Dhaka metropolitan area, the catchment share has increased from 40% to 50%. Additionally, each student will be able to list five schools in each group as a preference. Previously, students were admitted to the first class by lottery every year and to the second to eighth classes through an admission test.
SSC and HSC can be behind
The education minister has hinted to postpone next year’s SSC and HSC exams. He said that since last year students have been left behind due to the situation in Corona, for which a brief three-month agenda has been made. If the educational institution is opened, this short program will be completed and the exam will be taken. However, the test may not arrive on time. Maybe a month or two later. The test will be taken in three months as long as it is taught. The SSC and equivalent exams are held from February 1 of each year and the HSC and equivalent exams from April 1 of each year. This time, the SSC exam could be taken at the scheduled time, but the HSC exam was not possible due to Corona.
HSC result with 75% SSC and 25% JSC
The Minister of Education said that the results of the CSS will be published with 75 percent importance and the results of JSC will be published with 25 percent importance. In this sense, the results of HSC will be announced next December, said the minister. The Education Minister said the HSC exams were canceled this year and that all candidates were passed. Grades will be determined by the results of the SSC-equivalent and JSC-JDC exam. For this we form a technical committee. They have given us guidance in determining a rating by observing various topics. In light of this, this year’s HSC exam results will be released. As for how the results of those who were preparing for the improvement test will be given, the minister said, they will also be given a rating after evaluating the results of the previous test. It was reported at the conference that even if the JSC and JDC exams are canceled due to the crown, interested boards of education will award certificates to students.
No other fees can be charged at the time of admission.
Students from first to ninth grade of public-private primary and secondary schools will be admitted by lottery. No other fee other than the admission fee can be charged at the time of this admission. Even then, if we find evidence, we will take appropriate action. The education minister said an admission fee will be charged to new entrants. However, other fees, including the annual fee, cannot be taken with admission. And for those who are passing the new class, the annual fee may not charge any other fees.
The Minister of Education called for exams to be taken in the cluster system at the university
The Education Minister said that if the admission test is not taken in the public university cluster system, students will have to suffer a lot. Many spend the night in the mosque. Again, students do not have that opportunity. There is a financial loss with this. And it is not possible thanks to Corona. That is why he urged the universities that are not in the process to reconsider.
“In medicine, we can get admission across the country together,” said the minister. So why can’t I get admitted to universities with a test? Even then, if a university wants to do it alone, it has to think about it. When asked when the school would reopen, the Education Minister said that when the school would reopen would completely depend on the corona virus situation.
