Police arrested the driver for sexual harassment of a young woman sitting on the back of a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver was arrested by the Kolkata Police app in West Bengal, India, on Wednesday.
The name of the arrested motorcyclist is Aslam Hossain. The police have filed cases against him under sections 509, 354 and 354 (d).
According to the Indian media Anandabazar, the girl filed a complaint on Tuesday on the Calcutta Police Facebook page. A copy of the complaint was subsequently sent to the police. After contacting the girl, police arrested the motorcyclist outside her home in Haridebpur, South Kolkata on Wednesday morning.
The girl got on a Rapido motorcycle from Desi Lane in the Alipore police station area around 9 p.m. Sunday. He got on his bicycle to return home to the Garfa police station area. As soon as she got on the bike, the driver started talking obscenely to the girl. He asked several “uncomfortable” questions about his body. The driver Aslam Hossain asked the young woman: ‘What is sex with your boyfriend like?’
Not only that, at night he took the girl to Garfa’s police station, far from his home. The young woman had to walk home from there. Later, the young woman called Rapido’s customer service and complained.
According to the police, a deputy inspector from the Garfa police station tried to communicate with the girl through her mobile phone after receiving a complaint in an email. Later the police went to the young woman’s house. Police have been searching for the cyclist in the Haridebpur area since this morning with his written complaint. After a while, the police found the driver in front of his house. He was arrested from there.
The arrested motorcyclist Aslam Hossain will be sent to the Alipore court in Kolkata today, police said.
