Singapore expelled 15 Bangladeshis for publishing anti-French posts

Dhaka: Fifteen Bangladeshis have been expelled from Singapore for posting anti-French posts on social media.

This was reported in an AFP report on Tuesday (November 24).

According to AFP, the Singapore Interior Ministry identified these Bangladeshis. These 15 Bangladeshi citizens violated Singapore laws at different times and published anti-French posts. That is why Singapore expelled them.

Earlier, on November 8, the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore had instructed the country’s administration that Singapore would severely punish migrant workers involved in the French problem. Singapore asked migrant workers to refrain from doing so.

The Bangladesh High Commission, citing the Singapore Ministry of the Interior and Manpower, said that several instructions had been issued for migrant workers in the wake of the accident in France. According to him, if a person engages in or incites violence in the wake of an incident in France or in any other country, be it on social media or on the internet, they can be fined in jail or banned in Singapore indefinitely. Migrant workers are advised not to get involved or participate in any activity related to the question of France.

Singapore’s position against any form of violence is zero tolerance. Workers are prohibited from taking any action on this issue inside or outside the residence. However, many Bangladeshi workers did not accept it.

Please note that there are around two lakhs of Bangladeshi migrant workers in Singapore.
