Justice Md. Ashfaqul Islam High Court and Judge Mohammad Ali approved the order on Monday with the consent of both parties.

Lawyers Mostafizur Rahman and Shakib Mahbub were present at the court hearing on behalf of the petitioner. Attorney General AM Amin Uddin represented the state; Also present was Deputy Attorney General Debashish Bhattacharya.

Deputy Attorney General Debashish later told bdnews24.com that Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) was no longer recalling dogs. If no such action is taken, then this car has no relevance.

“If this continues, they (the written petitioners) can return if they wish. In addition, an inter-ministerial meeting will be held and at that meeting a decision will be made.”

Debashish said the attorney general reported the matter to the court based on a conversation with the mayor of the city corporation. The court then removed the brief request from the agenda.

Attorney Shakib Mahbub said: “The Attorney General has spoken with the mayor of DSCC and has told the court that they will not remove the kitchen. If you want to remove it again in the future, then the decision or action should be taken after discussing with the data subject, including the petitioner.

In accordance with Section 8 of the Animal Welfare Act 2019, no animals, including a stray dog, can be removed, transferred or disposed of.

But a few days ago, there were allegations that the DSCC was taking stray dogs out of TSC and Dhanmondi and releasing them on Matuail in a verbal order, which is a violation of the law.

The writ was filed in the High Court on September 16 seeking instructions to stop the activities of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in removing stray dogs from the capital.

Jaya Ahsan, an animal welfare organization and actress called ‘Sanctuary’ and ‘People for Animal Welfare’, filed the auto petition.

But after the initial hearing on the car, DSCC authorities stopped the removal of the dog.
