According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Education Information and Statistics (BANBASE), there are currently 1 lakh 29,256 primary-level educational institutions, including government primary schools, kindergartens and private schools across the country. The total number of students in these institutions is approximately 1 crore 63 lakh. Of these, 1 crore 14 lakh are students in government primary schools (85,620).
Due to the coronavirus infection, all educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 18. According to the latest announcement, the holidays will continue until December 19. Education administration officials say the school is unlikely to open this year. In such a situation, the learning of pre-primary children is completely closed. And for first through fifth grade students, the class was broadcast on television and radio, but it didn’t really help much. The final exam of fifth grade of primary education and ibtedayi was also canceled a long time ago.
Although the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has taken the initiative to assess students on the basis of a short study program, it is not possible due to the announcement of the last holidays (until December 19). Because, there are only 11 days left until the end of the academic year. Faced with this situation, there was a discussion about the evaluation of different primary classes and what will be the method of promotion to the upper class.
