One person was killed when a truck loaded with coal collided with a train at Murli Rail Crossing in Jessore Sadar Upazila on Saturday night. At that moment, the truck fell on the train and the coal fell on the railway, disrupting the movement of trains from Khulna to the rest of the country. Six hours after the accident, train service between Khulna and the rest of the country returned to normal at around 3:15 pm yesterday.

Earlier, a Khulna relief train pulled the truck from the crash site around 12 noon yesterday and cleaned up the coal from the train track. Then the railway line of that place became suitable for the movement of trains.

It is known that the accident occurred when the truck broke the door and fell on the railroad track despite the door of the railroad crossing being closed on Saturday night.

Rakibuzzaman, an inspector at the Chanchra Police Investigation Center in Jessore, said the Kopotaksh Express train from Rajshahi was heading towards Khulna around 7pm yesterday. At that moment, a truck loaded with coal collided with the train at Murli Rail Crossing. One died and another was injured. It is being investigated whether the gate of the railway crossing was lowered correctly at the time of the accident.

As the truck was on the railway line and a lot of coal was lying on the railway line, the train service with Khulna stops. Later, the Khulna relief train went to the crash site and cleared the railway in three hours. As a result, the railway line is suitable for the movement of trains.
