Compensation has been awarded to garden owners in Khorddabausa village of Arani union in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi. In a letter signed by Deepak Kumar Chakraborty, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Forests and Climate Change, the Department of Forests has allocated a total of Tk 3.13 lakh for the lease of the birdhouses of five garden owners. This money was allocated due to the loss of mango orchards due to the arrival of birds in the garden.

According to sources from the forest department, the allocation was handed over to the forest department of the development sector of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change on November 1 as compensation to mango producers for snail nesting in Ambagan in Khord village Bausa.

The five mango orchard owners who receive this allocation are Manjur Rahman, Sanar Uddin, Shahadat Hossain, Shafiqul Islam and Faruk Anwar from the village of Khord Bausa.

Mihir Kumar Do, Forest Conservator of the Dhaka Wildlife and Nature Conservation Area, Zillur Rahman, Rajshahi Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Forest Conservator of the Rajshahi Department of Social Forests, Conservation Officer of Wildlife and Biodiversity of Rajshahi Raid visited the mango orchard on Saturday morning. Ranger Helim Raihan and Wildlife Inspector Jahangir Kabir. At that time they exchanged views with the owner of the garden and the local people.

Officials said the money would be officially paid to the orchard owners through the local Upazila Nirbahi official within a few days.
