In Rupganj of Narayanganj, a 28-day-old girl named Meem Akhter was stabbed to death by a heretical father named Kamal Hossain.
The brutal incident took place on Saturday morning in the Paragaon Dakshinpara area of the Bhulta Union of Upazila. The murderer Kamal is the son of Babul from the Haulipara area of Machimpur.
Khadija Akhter, the mother of the deceased, said she was the daughter of Harunur Rashid from the Dakshinpara area. He married Kamal two years ago.
Kamal lived in his father-in-law’s house after marriage. She always expected a child. But Khadija gave birth to a girl 28 days ago.
From then on, Kamal began to misbehave towards Khadija. Attempts to kill Meem failed 10 days ago. When Meem started crying on Saturday morning, he picked her up on his lap and threw her to the ground. The boy died on the spot.
The girl’s mother, Khadija, added that her husband worked in a hotel in the Chhanpara area below the Araihazar police station. If he had a son, they would sell him to a man there. He killed Meem because his dream didn’t come true.
Rupganj Police Station OC Mahmudul Hasan said the baby’s body was recovered and sent to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue. The operation continues to stop the killer’s father.
