The Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has found evidence that at least five dead teenagers were raped between March 29 of last year and August 23 of this year. These girls were between 11 and 18 years old. After the suicide, their bodies were taken to the Suhrawardy Hospital morgue for autopsy. The report of the investigation of the bodies showed no signs of injury or rape. However, the presence of sperm from the same man was found in ‘High Vaginal Swab (HVS)’ from each body sent by the doctor to the CID laboratory. The investigation revealed that 20-year-old Munna Bhakta, a partner of Dom, had sex with the bodies. He was detained by the CID on Thursday night.
The home of the perverted criminal Munnar is located in the Juran Mollah neighborhood in Goaland of Rajbari. He is not an employee of Suhrawardy Medical College. He used to work there because he was the nephew of Dom Shri Jatan Kumar from the hospital. He had the key to the morgue. He took the corpses to the morgue, assisted the doctors during the autopsy, and explained the corpses to family members at the end of the autopsy.

However, the investigation of these bodies did not mention any signs of assault or rape. The bodies of the five young women were sent to the hospital the day after the autopsy.
Jihad Hossain said that since there were no signs of injuries in the investigation report of the bodies, they assumed something had happened after the bodies of the young women arrived at the hospital. They then began questioning Dom and his associates at Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital after arguing with senior officials. Munna sensed the matter and fled the hospital. He was later arrested on the Babubazar Bridge.
The Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue opened in October 2016. The only Dom in the morgue with government salary is Shri Jatan Kumar.
He said Munna started working with him in 2016. The number of his associates, including Munna, is four. They stayed in a room or in the gallery of the morgue at night. Outside of that there is a woman who goes to work. Jatan said he was the only salaried employee at the morgue. The rest receive masohara with the reward of the relatives brought in for the autopsy.
The Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue is run by the university’s department of forensic medicine. Selim Reza, head of the forensic department, said the boy had a mental illness. This is not possible with a healthy person. This sexual dysfunction is called necrophilia.
Despite not being a hospital employee, Selim Reza said there was no trained ‘mortuary attendant’ for the young man to work there. Nobody takes the matter seriously. Those who have been involved in this work since British times have been doing it in a hereditary way. That’s why the one who was hired as Dom brought in some of his family members as collaborators.
Selim Reza believes that a trained mortuary attendant would never do this. Stakeholders should pay more attention to the morgue and the autopsy. He hopes that the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior will be more proactive in this regard.
