US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has visited illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank. Outraged Palestinians say this is another illegal precedent. The incident will help strengthen the country’s control over Israeli-occupied territory in Palestine.
Al-Jazeera reports that Mike Pompeo’s controversial remarks are at the center of Palestinian outrage. There, he said, products made in these Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories could be labeled “Made in Israel” or “Made in Israel.”
The Palestinian group Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) rejected Pompeo’s comments in a statement Thursday. The group also denied Pompeo’s accusations that the Palestinian-led campaign was anti-Semitic.
BDS says they are a grassroots Palestinian movement. Its aim is to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, respect international law, guarantee the rights of the Palestinians, and pressure Israel to show respect for the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their territories.
