Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has added a new warship, the Shaheed Rudaki, to its naval unit. Senior officials, including Major General Hussein Salami, head of the IRGC, were present at the incorporation of the huge warship into the port of Abbas in southern Iran on Thursday.
According to local media reports, the massive warship is capable of carrying a wide variety of helicopters, drones, missiles, radars, and air defenses. Includes 3D radar, ship-to-ship and air-to-air missiles.
According to the IRGC, the length of the warship is 150 meters. The ship has no landing strip. However, there is a landing pad for the helicopter landing pad. There is also a sophisticated communication system. The warships will provide security and humanitarian assistance to merchant ships of various countries, including Iran, at sea.
These warships are capable of navigating even distant oceans. Due to its large size, the Iranian ship is also known as a city floating on the sea.
Adam Ali Reza Tangsiri, commander of the IRGC’s naval unit, said his forces wanted to patrol the remote seas. India, Iran’s most powerful force, also wants to increase its presence in the Indian Ocean. “We have the right to be present in the Indian Ocean,” Tangsiri said.
