Kolkata film actress Srabonti Chatterjee charged with harassment over the phone in Khulna. The police arrested a young man named Mahabubar Rahman.
Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate Tariqul Islam granted a one-day pre-trial detention after a hearing after police requested a five-day pre-trial detention for questioning today.
The arrested youth lives in a rented house at 8/1 Bakshipara Road in the Sonadanga Model Thana area of the city of Khulna.
According to police sources, Sravanti sought justice for the government stalker through the High Commission of India. Based on this information, on November 18 a case was filed at the Sonadanga Model Police Station in Khulna, following instructions from the Police Headquarters through the Ministry of the Interior.
According to the case account, the defendant Mahabubar used to call Sravanti’s mobile phone at different times. He used to give offensive messages without getting a response over the phone. At one point, Sravanti appealed to the government of Bangladesh through the High Commissioner of India for redress.
Sonadanga model police officer in charge. Mamtazul Haque said the defendant was turned over to court after filing a case under Section 26/31 of the Digital Security Act on instructions from higher authorities.
Sonadanga police, however, refused to say where the defendant was arrested from.
