In the Indian state of Bihar, a Muslim girl was set on fire by pouring kerosene on her body after refusing to marry a Hindu. After hearing the screams of the girl, her relatives and villagers went to rescue her and admitted her to the hospital. The girl died on Sunday 16 days later. According to international media sources, the girl named Gulnaz Khatun protested the teasing on the eve in the Habib village of Rasulpur in Bihar on October 30. The defendant Satish had been proposing to the girl for a long time. But to avenge his rejection and humiliation, he tried to burn Gulnaz with the help of his father Chandan Roy and his cousin Chandan Roy by pouring kerosene oil on her and setting her on fire.
After hearing the girl’s screams, her relatives and villagers came and rescued her and admitted her to Patna Medical College. Eighty-five percent of the girl’s body was burned. The girl was treated at the hospital. But he could not save himself from death. The young woman died last Sunday.
The victim’s mother said her daughter’s body was set on fire around 5:30 p.m. on October 30. A day before, Satish threatened her (the mother of the murdered girl).
Vaishali District Police Superintendent. Gaurab Mangala said the defendants had fled. Three police teams have been formed to arrest them. If the accused does not surrender, the police will initiate activities to confiscate his property.
