Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque has said that the construction work on the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will not stop with the words of any Arbachin.
The minister made the remarks while inspecting the MV Akram, a warship anchored in the Shitalakshya river in the port area on Wednesday afternoon.
He said countless sculptures of the father of the nation have been erected across the country. There is no reason to worry about who said what along the way. The current government speaks with the ability to implement what it says.
It is worth mentioning that during the Great War of Liberation in 1971, naval commandos sank the army warship Pak MV Akram in the Meghna River. Later, the Ministry of Liberation War took the initiative to save the ship.
The minister further said that during the liberation war, the naval commandos sank the MV Akram in the Meghna River in the Chandpur area. This is a great example of the great liberation war. To preserve it, a high-level committee made up of representatives from six ministries has been formed and the names of the two places have been proposed. One is next to the Madaripur BIWTA training center and the other is next to the new Chandpur port.
After reviewing and submitting the report to the formed committee, the ship will be kept in a location that is considered crowded and picturesque. The amount of money that will be demanded for it will be assigned by the Ministry of Liberation War and the government will make the arrangements for the permanent conservation of the ship. Minister Mozammel Haque also said foreign architects and engineers would be consulted if necessary to enhance the ship’s beauty.
The ship was accompanied by former Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, Shipping Secretary Mejbauddin, BIWTA President Commodore Golam Sadeq, Additional Deputy Commissioner Selim Reza and Officer Narayanganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Nahida Barik.
