Dhaka Customs recovered about 8 kg of gold from an Emirates Airlines passenger from Dubai at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The gold was recovered from the passengers of flight EK572 at 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday (November 18).

According to Dhaka Customs, on the basis of secret information, duty officers in the Dhaka Customs Preventive Team on Wednesday morning began monitoring at various points at Shahjalal International Airport. According to the information received, around 7:20 a.m., 60 gold bars were found hidden from the passengers of flight number EK562 from Dubai. Its total weight is 6 kg 900 g. Its estimated market value is around 5 crore 16 lakh 50 lakhs.

Dhaka Customs Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Maruf Rahman told the media that action is being taken under the Customs Law with regard to seized gold. Preparations are under way to initiate a criminal case in this regard. However, the official did not say anything about the passenger’s arrest.
