Khagrachari: A deputy police inspector (SI) named Perth Roy Chowdhury (38) died when he was hit by a minibus while he was going to testify in Khagrachari. The deceased worked at the Itna Police Station in Perth Kishoreganj.
The accident took place in the Gamari Dhala area of Khagrachhari on Tuesday (November 18) morning. Previously, he served in the Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station. He is a resident of Rangamati Sadar.
It is known that he was going to testify in Khagrachhari court on a motorcycle from his home in Rangamati in the morning. On the way, a tourist minibus coming from the opposite direction collided with his motorcycle in the Gamari Dhala area of the district headquarters. He was seriously injured below the waist. He was immediately rescued and taken to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital. He died on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station (OC investigation) said. Golam Abshar told banglanews that Perth investigated several cases while on duty at the Khagrachhari Sadar police station. The accident occurred on the way to testify in court in those cases.
The driver escaped but the deadly minibus was impounded, he said.
Meanwhile, locals have expressed their grief over the death of the humble and honest officer in various ways, including on social media.
