An official Facebook page called ‘Police Cyber Support for Women’ has been launched to prevent harassment of women in the cyber world. Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed inaugurated the unit on the police line in Rajarbagh in the capital on Monday.
He said that only female police officers will work in this unit. They will receive cyber report calls and advise the victim on immediate action and assistance.
The IGP said that cyber crimes were committed across the country’s borders. Criminals commit crimes by opening fake IDs through various social networks.
So far, 6,099 cases have been registered in Bangladesh under the relevant law. Most of the victims are women ”.
IGP Benazir Ahmed called on people to help the police stop Cyra’s crime.
According to the Bangladesh Police, the majority of the 8,100 cases of cyberbullying are against women.
In that regard, Maleka Banu, Bangladesh’s Secretary General Mahila Parishad, said that harassing women online is much easier than in real life. All you need is a mobile phone. The new police unit to prevent harassment crimes against women in the cyber world is a good initiative. However, this problem must be properly monitored so that women can communicate with them. If that doesn’t happen, it’s still a way to get more involved.
