The Russian crown ‘Sputnik V’ vaccine will arrive at Kanpur Medical College in India within the next week. The second and third stage human trials will take place there. On behalf of India, the Drug Control Agency of India (DGCI) has granted permission to Russia’s Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory for a final trial.
Previously, the DGCI had banned testing of the Sputnik V vaccine. According to the news agency, the initial trial of the Russian vaccine was carried out in a very small number of people. That is why every quarter they started arguing that it is not possible to go to trial phase three by breaking the rules. Subsequently, on October 13, Hyderabad-based Doctor Reddy’s Lab again applied for permission to conduct a trial with Russian Ticker Human in India. In that application, permission was sought for phase 2 and phase 3 of the human trial.
Under the new agreement, a total of 1,500 people in the country will be tested for the corona vaccine. The agreement also states that even if the Corona Ticker test is successful, it will require a new permit from the DGCI. Only then can the corona vaccine be marketed. Russia will ship 100 million corona vaccines to India through Dr. Reddy’s laboratory.
Russia is the first country to claim credit for inventing the corona virus. Since then, several countries around the world have reached out to obtain the Sputnik V vaccine.
