The 17-day-old newborn slept with his parents at night. After waking up in the middle of the night, the parents are unable to find the newborn named Sohana. His idea is that someone stole the baby sometime on Sunday night. The incident took place in the Gabtala village of the Khaulia union in Morelganj upazila de Bagerhat.
Sohana Akhter, a 17-day-old newborn, is the son of Sujan Khan and Shanta Akhter from Gabtala village. Sujan makes a living fishing in the sea.
Police said multiple teams were on the scene to rescue the stolen newborn. The couple lived in one room in a three-room house with tin rice and fences. Sujan’s sister Bonjamai and their two-year-old daughter lived in one of the other two rooms on either side, and Sujan’s parents lived in the other.
The boy’s mother said: ‘After eating Sunday night, we turned off the lights and went to sleep. Sohana was between the two of us. I also gave him milk a few times at night. I got up at two and saw that there was no girl.
After receiving the news, the police began searching for the newborn since night. The executive officer of Morelganj Upazila (UN) visited the site in the morning. Delwar Hossain.
