Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the heinous genocide in Bangladesh in 1971 unmasked Pakistan. During his Diwali address in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, last Saturday, he also highlighted the atrocities committed by invading Pakistani forces in Bangladesh.
Referring to the 1971 liberation war, Narendra Modi said: “It was a time when the Pakistani army tortured, oppressed and killed innocent citizens of Bangladesh. Mothers and sisters were being tortured inhumanely. This notoriety of the Pakistani army has exposed the disgusting face of Pakistan around the world.
He said: ‘The terrible shape of Pakistan was being exposed to the world. To divert the world’s attention from all this, Pakistan attacked the western border of our country (India).
Narendra Modi said: “Pakistan thought that by attacking the western border of India, the world will cry because India has done this and that, and that will wash away all its sins in Bangladesh.” But Pakistan had to be humiliated by the proper response of our troops.
Modi said: “Now that the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war and the Battle of Langewala are drawing to a close, in a few weeks we will celebrate its 50th anniversary, the golden jubilee of this glorious golden chapter. In that context, I want to come here today. Modi further said: “The whole country will be proud to hear the story of the victory of these heroes. Their courage will grow, and it will be a very important opportunity in their lives for new and future generations to be inspired by this feat. ‘
