The neighboring grandfather has been accused of raping a 10-year-old boy in Kaliganj of Gazipur. Police arrested rapist Mojibar from his home in Potan village of Moktarpur union of Upazila on Sunday afternoon in connection with the case of the abused boy’s father.
Mojibar Rahman, 50, the father of two wives and five children, is the son of the late Abdur Rashid of the village. He has a store in the Noapara area along the local Itakhola ring road.
Kaliganj OC AKM Mizanul Haque Police Station said the third-grader from a local elementary school went to Dada Mojibur Rahman’s shop next door to eat the stew on Saturday afternoon. Mujibur kept the boy in the tent for a long time. At night, he closed the store, raped his 10-year-old granddaughter and spent the night with the girl. People in the house look for the baby and make fun of the area. On Sunday morning, people saw the girl next to the Chatpati store in Mojibar and took her home. Upon returning home, the girl informed the family about the incident.
The OC also said that Mojibar had confessed to raping the minor. He apologized to the boy’s family for avoiding the lawsuit and offered to give the boy 2 kathas of land as compensation for the rape. The boy has been sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed University Medical Hospital for a medical examination.
