Pressure comes to recognize Israel: Imran Khan

One Arab country after another is normalizing relations with Israel. Apart from the Arab world, there are rumors that some other Muslim countries are on the list. This includes Pakistan. Finally, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has acknowledged that friendly countries are pushing to recognize Israel.

“We are under pressure from friendly countries to recognize Israel as a state,” Imran Khan said in an online report Saturday by the Middle East Monitor, a Middle East-based news watchdog. But we will not do so until there is a just solution to the Palestinian crisis.

However, he did not say which countries were pushing for recognition of Israel because of the fraternal relationship. As a reason, Imran said, “We don’t want bad relations with these countries.” However, the Middle East Monitor quoted Pakistani officials as referring to Saudi Arabia.

Imran Khan is known around the world as a strong supporter of the Palestinian cause. The leader, who has expressed his voice in demanding Palestinian rights, has previously spoken out against Islamabad’s tough stance on Palestine. He also recently said that Pakistan would never recognize Israel.
