Locals arrested a young man for raping an eight-year-old boy in a rice field on the east side of Fakirtala Polytechnic Institute in Khokshabari UP of Sirajganj Sadar Upazila. Later, the mob beat him and handed him over to the police. Initially it was learned that the girl was raped showing greed for only 50 rupees. The incident took place before Saturday night. Detainee Md. Kalam (45) is the son of the late Messer Ali from Madhyapara village in Janpur.
According to some eyewitnesses, the rapist was giving the girl Kalam Bill shapla flowers. At one point, he took the girl by the hand and led her to the rice field to talk. It is suspected that the two were not seen for 15-20 minutes. Later, they went to the rice field and saw the two naked. When Kalam was arrested at the time, he confessed to the rape. Later, people stopped him and reported him to the police.
The boy said that he had brought the rice field saying that he would pay 50 rupees.
Zainul Abedin, deputy inspector of the Sadar police station, said that the locals detained Kalam and reported to the police station. Later, Kalam was arrested upon arrival at the scene. The rapist Kalam has confessed to the rape showing greed for money. Preliminary investigations into the incident are underway after speaking with eyewitnesses and locals. He also said that the case will be registered after being taken to the police station.
