Hefazat-e-Islam demanded a part of the press conference

His brother-in-law Mohammad Moinuddin has claimed that Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi was killed while he was in the madrasa. He blamed Jamaat-Shibir for this.

Mohammad Moinuddin made the demand at a press conference at the Chittagong Press Club on Saturday under the banner of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh.

He said: ‘Allama Shafi was killed by the ghosts of Jamaat-Shibir. This has happened because he was in favor of freedom. We want justice for the murder of Hazur’s wife, Firoza Begum, and her family.

In a written statement, he said: ‘On September 19, Allama Shafi Hazur was assassinated in Hathazari Madrasa by the Jamaat-e-Islami. Mr. Shafi used to speak out against the anti-independence Jamaat-e-Islami and wrote books against them. That is why they were angry with Shafi Hazur. Jamaat-e-Islami attacked Shibir in 1985 with the intention of killing Shafi Hazur and taking control of Hathazari Madrasa.

He further said: “They have been planning to assassinate Shafi Hazur ever since as they did not fall into the trap of BNP and Jamaat-Shibir in Shapla Chattar. On September 16, Jamaat-Shibir blocked the Hathazari Madrasa by inciting some students at the Hathazari Madrasa. At that time, Allama Junaid took a position at Babungari Madrasa and carried out looting and vandalism with Mir Idris, Nasir Uddin Munir, Mufti Harun and Inzamul Hasan.

Allama Shafi’s brother-in-law further said: “At that time, Hazur was tortured by forcing into his room. At one point, Shafi was forced to resign. In this, when the teacher falls ill, oxygen is given in the mouth. But when the ghosts of Jamaat-Shibir removed the maximum oxygen, he fell and died.

Hefazat-e-Islam Deputy Treasurer Sarwar Alam, Publicity Secretary Shamsul Haque and Student Affairs Secretary Osman Kashemi were also present at the press conference.
