His brother-in-law Mohammad Moinuddin has claimed that the late Amir Shah Ahmad Shafi of Hefazat was the victim of a planned assassination of Jamaat-e-Islami. He made the demand at a press conference organized by a section of the organization under the slogan “Hifazat-e-Islam Bangladesh” at the Chittagong Press Club on Saturday (November 14). The same press conference demanded the closure of the Hefazat-e-Islam council to be held on November 15.
In a written statement, Mohammad Moinuddin said: ‘My own sister Firoza Begum (60) is ill in mourning over the untimely death of my brother-in-law Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi. I can’t bear to cry. I have appeared before you at your request. Anas Madani was supposed to participate in the press conference. Now he is on the run because his killers have threatened to kill him.
He added: ‘My brother-in-law Hazrat Allama Shafi did not die naturally. The ghosts of the camp have killed Shah Ahmad Shafi Hazur in a planned way. We demand a fair trial for his murder. We demand a departmental investigation into his murder.
He said: “Since Shafi Hazur did not fall for BNP and Jamaat-Shibir’s trap in Shapla Chattar, the assassination was planned from then on. On September 17, Jamaat-Shibir cadre forces incited some students in Hathazari Madrasa and blockaded the Madrasa. At that time, Junaid stayed in the Babungari Madrasa and smashed the Madrasa with Mir Idris, Nasir Uddin Munir, Mufti Harun, and Inzamul Hasan. At one point, they broke into the lord’s room, smashed and tortured the lord. Mr. Shafi was forced to resign. In this, when the teacher falls ill, oxygen is given in the mouth. But when the Jamaat-e-Islami members turned on the oxygen, he succumbed to his injuries. Subsequently, the ambulance did not allow the ambulance to leave on time.
He further said, “Jamaat-Shibir attacked in 1975 with the intention of killing Mohammad Moinuddin, Shafi Hazur and taking control of Hathazari Madrasa. Shafi Hazur stopped the attack by risking his own life as he loved the country and loved Qaumi. Furthermore, Shafi Hazur used to speak openly against the freedom fighters (Jamaat-Shibir) and also wrote several books against them. For this reason, Jamaat-Shibir had a long-standing resentment towards Shafi Hazur. This murder for that anger.
In demanding the closure of the Hefazat-e-Islam council to be held on November 15, he said: “The council has been convened on November 15 without demanding justice for the murder of Hazur.” There is a conspiracy to hand over Hazur’s well-planned organization to the BNP, Jamaat-Shibir through the Representative Council. From this press conference I demand to close the council tomorrow (Sunday). The conference must stop immediately.
Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Deputy Treasurer Sarwar Alam, Publicity Secretary Shamsul Haque, Student Affairs Secretary Osman Kashemi and others were present at the press conference.
It is worth mentioning that next Sunday (November 15) the representative conference of Hefazat-e-Islam will be held in Hathazari Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa in Chittagong, where the new leadership of the organization will be decided. With the death of Allama Ahmad Shafi on September 18 this year, the highest post of this organization of students and teachers of Qawmi Madrasa was vacated. The Qaumi arena has already been concerned to determine the leadership of Hefazat-e-Islam at the next council. Several inconveniences have been created among academics who focus on the subject. One party has already declared non-compliance with the conference, while the other party is quietly monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, the documents of a new Hifazat committee signed by Ahmad Shafi have spread to scholars.
