UN experts call for immediate sanctions against Qatar The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt have imposed sanctions.
UN expert Alena Duhan wrote in a recent report that the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have imposed sanctions on Qatar over regional tensions. All four countries, however, claim that Qatar is a supporter of terrorism and that its relations with Iran are very close.
So these four countries have closed diplomatic and commercial relations. But according to UN experts, the policy of educating any government by depriving people of their human rights is not correct.
Elena Duhan’s report states that there is no justification for such compensation. The ban violates the fundamental rights of the Qatari people. Following the ban, the four countries expelled all Qatari citizens from their countries. As a result, these people have not only lost their jobs, but their families have also been affected. Therefore, it falls into the category of direct violation of human rights.
Qatar has said from the beginning that it does not support terrorists. It does not please the militants. But those four countries imposed sanctions three years ago.
That’s when they said they would lift the ban if they met the 10-point demand. But Qatar did not want to accept it.
One of the 10 demands was the closure of the Qatari news agency. According to UN experts, such claims go against international law. According to him, Qatar has also recently enacted several laws against terrorism.
These UN experts work independently and their report is not a UN report. However, the UN can use this report. This report can also be presented at the meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in 2021.
There have been some attempts in the past to resolve this dispute. But it does not work. Qatar said it was ready to solve the problem through talks. But keep in mind that Qatar’s sovereignty will not be compromised.
