The court has detained 26 defendants in 11 cases presented in different police stations on charges of bus fire and sabotage in different parts of the capital. The remand order was issued by the Dhaka Metropolitan Chief Magistrates Court on Friday.
The court granted three-day pre-trial detention to six defendants in two separate cases brought to the Shahbagh Police Station. The accused detainees are Hazrat Ali, Moinuddin, Abu Saeed Shant, Abul Kalam Azad, Abu Sufian and Sohail.
In a case brought by the Paltan Police Station, Aliza Al Ahmed Mitu and Mehedi Hasan Yasin were detained for three days and Fazlur Bari, Altaf Hossain, Naeem Pradhan, Alif Mahmud, Humayun Rashid Tutul, Khandaker Mashukur Rahman and Rasheduzzaman were detained for five days. .
Abdur Rahman granted Taher two days of pre-trial detention in one case and Zakir Hossain three days of pre-trial detention in another case.
In a case filed at the Bangshal Police Station, the court ordered two defendants Safiuddin Ahmed Sentu and Mridu Rahman Johnny aka Morshedur Rahman Johnny for two days.
The defendants Mahifur Rahman Tipu and Mainuddin Chowdhury were detained for two days in a case brought to the Kalabagan Police Station.
The court granted three days of pre-trial detention to four defendants in the case brought to the Sutrapur police station.
The court has held two defendants, Mashiur Rahman Mosi and engineer Nazrul Islam, for two days in a case brought to the Khilkhet police station. The court also granted Sohail Mia a three-day pre-trial detention in a case filed at the Turag police station in the capital.
Previously, the investigators of the case requested the preventive detention of the accused in different terms. After the hearing, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Court granted pretrial detention. A total of six cases have been recorded in five police stations, including Motijheel, Shahbagh and Paltan, in connection with the bus fire on Thursday. In these cases, more than one hundred and a half people have been charged.
