The announcement by election officials, who rejected allegations of vote rigging by Donald Trump, is significant. This is the first announcement by federal and state election officials to refute allegations of election wrongdoing by Trump and his close associates. The joint announcement was made by the United States Electoral Infrastructure Coordinating Council. The council is comprised of officials from the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and statewide election observers, as well as representatives from the voting machine industry.
In a statement, the Electoral Infrastructure Coordinating Council said: “The November 3 election was one of the safest in US history. At the moment, election officials across the country are reviewing the entire electoral process before results are finalized. Despite numerous unsubstantiated claims and false information about our electoral process, we can assure everyone that the security and transparency of our election and our confidence in it are of the highest quality. Just hours before the statement, President Trump tweeted that millions of his votes had been lost through voting software in 26 states. But he did not present any evidence in support of that claim. Twitter also added a warning to his tweet.
