Additional Commissioner of the DMP and Head of the Anti-Terrorism Unit. Monirul Islam said: “I have received a call log of a sudden fire on a bus in the capital.” That is being analyzed. Work is under way to discover the identities of those who have spoken. However, this call log will serve as important evidence to prove the case. Conversations are similar to call logs and fire incidents.
He said this in response to a question from journalists at a Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association function on Friday afternoon.
He said that the 2014-15 incidents are similar to yesterday’s incidents. However, police are investigating who started the fire. Just as people were terrified of the fires that were set at that time six years ago, city dwellers were also terrified of the sudden bus fire yesterday. This is bound to happen. Police were also surprised by the sudden incident of setting so many buses on fire. We are working to find out who is involved in these incidents.
He added that the BNP has also held processions in the National Press Club and Naya Paltan areas. This was followed by arson. So BNP leaders and workers can be involved.
It is worth mentioning that buses caught fire in several places in the capital on Thursday, including Gulistan, Shahbag and Motijheel.
