Twelve days after her death, the body of an old woman named Fazila Begum (90) was taken from the grave and her head was cut off. At the same time, a shroud was also stolen from the body. Amirul Islam and Muktar Hossain, gravediggers from Joynagar Central Cemetery (Purbapara), told Kaler Kanth that some students from Hafezia Madrasa near the cemetery came to visit the grave the morning of the incident. Then they saw the body wrapped in polyethylene and wrapped next to the grave. Neighbors came to cut the grave of Likhan’s mother and in the morning they also saw the body. Mohsin, the son of the deceased, told Pramanik Kaler Kanth that his mother was very pious and devoted. He used to perform regular tahajjud prayers. He suffered a heart attack while performing the Tahajjud prayers six years ago. He died in bed on October 31 of this year at the age of 90.

Ishwardi Circle Additional Police Superintendent Firoz Kabir said the police officer from the police station had visited the scene after receiving information from the cemetery committee. He cut the corpse’s throat with a hoe and stole its head. The matter has been kept under police surveillance. The body has been ordered to be reburied.
