Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder himself has expressed his displeasure at the by-election of the Dhaka-17 constituency. He says the choice has fallen further in terms of quality. He made the statements considering the participation of the opposition, adherence to the code of conduct and the presence of agents of the candidates.

He made the remarks in a written statement titled ‘My statement on the Dhaka-18 by-election’ from his office in the Agargaon elections building in the capital on Thursday afternoon.

EC Mahbub said in a statement: “Today (Thursday) from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm I visited 60 posts at 14 centers in Nikunj, Khilkhet and Uttara in the Dhaka-17 constituency.” Looking at the general situation of the election, I have the idea that this election has gone down even more than the last election of the Eleventh National Assembly.

It is worth mentioning that the by-elections of the Dhaka-18 and Sirajganj-1 constituencies were held on Thursday from 8 am to 4 pm. Electronic voting machines (EVM) have voted for these two seats.

Candidates from the Awami League and BNP have complained about the voting environment in the Dhaka-17 constituency. However, no truth was found in the allegations by the BNP candidate, said Chief Elections Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda.

A cocktail party exploded in front of a polling station in Uttara during the by-elections. In addition, six buses were set on fire in seven places in the capital.
