Niaz of Mind Hospital didn’t show up in court because he was sick

He suffers from waist-to-toe obesity. He was the managing director of Mind Aid Hospital. The hospital has been operating without the approval of the Ministry of Health or the Department of Health. The defendants, including Fatema Khatun Moyna, have long established the hospital just to earn money in the name of treating mental patients. Earlier Tuesday, the court referred 10 defendants in the case over seven days. Each of the accused in pretrial detention is an official-employee of Mind Aid Hospital. They are: Arif Mahmud Joy, Mind Aid Marketing Manager, Coordinator Redwan Sabbir, Kitchen Safe Masud, Ward Boy Jobayer Hossain, Tanif Mollah, Sajeeb Chowdhury, Asim Chandra Pal, Liton Ahmed, Saiful Islam Palash, and pharmacist Tanvir Hasan.

According to judicial sources, Anisul Karim was transferred to the hospital on November 9 for mental problems. Shortly after his admission to the hospital, his family charged him with murder.
