The Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Tithi Sarkar, a student who was temporarily expelled from Jagannath University on charges of insulting religion. This information was given in a statement sent to the media on Wednesday night.
A press conference will be held at 12 noon Thursday at the initiative of its cyber police center, said a statement sent by Jisanul Haque, senior deputy media commissioner in the CID media wing. There, Tithi will inform the government about the details of the arrest.
He left Pallabi’s home at 9 a.m. on October 25, heading for the police station. He was missing for 15 days.
It is known that for a long time, Tithi Sarkar had been making negative comments about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on Facebook and through various social networks.
Later, all the student organizations and students in general at Jagannath University staged a human chain and a protest demanding the expulsion of the Tithi government.
Tithi Sarkar was suspended from the university administration on October 23 due to student unrest. Then came her family’s complaint that Tithi had disappeared.
