He responded to a question from reporters after a case was brought against Kazi Shahid Islam Papul, an independent lawmaker arrested in Kuwait, and his wife Selina Islam on Wednesday on charges of money laundering and illegal acquisition of wealth.
Commissioner Mozammel said: “We are also investigating other MPs who are under investigation. We will be able to give the result in time.
“We have not stopped working. We try to meet people’s expectations that they will be brought to justice as soon as possible. There will be no delay on this matter. It will be ready soon. But time cannot be called.”
MP search of ACC started, not in Furo
When asked if the ruling party MPs would get any exemptions from the ACC, he said: “We don’t have any party, we work above the individual. We do what the law tells us to do.”
The ACC is investigating 22 former and current MPs, including Papul and Selina.
They are accused of embezzling government funds, occupying Khas lands, taking bribes, taking commissions and other irregularities, and obtaining illicit wealth through corruption.
11 of them are current and 10 are former parliamentarians.
Among the former and current deputies are 10 from the ruling Awami League, five from BNP, and six from other parties and independents. Three deputies from the Awami League are also banned from traveling abroad.
ACC Deputy Director Salahuddin filed a lawsuit Wednesday against Shahid Islam Papul and his wife Selina Islam along with their daughter Wafa Islam and Papul’s sister-in-law Jasmine Pradhan on charges of illegal acquisition of assets and smuggling of Tk 148 crore.

Responding to a question about the defendants, ACC Commissioner Mozammel Haque said: “If investigating officers deem it necessary to arrest the defendants, they can be arrested for the sake of the investigation.” It is an ongoing legal process.
“Not only that, if the investigation of the case seems necessary, Shahid Islam Papul, who is in the Kuwait jail, can be returned to the country. In that case, he could be returned to the country through an international legal process.”
