Foreign diplomats were present at the event on Wednesday, the BBC reported, citing France. The French Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “cowardly act”.

Claire Rodríguez, a French journalist living in Saudi Arabia, posted images of the scene on her Twitter account after the attack on Wednesday.

“A planned attack on a non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah this morning was carried out in the presence of the French consul general and several other French officials,” he wrote.

“Some people were injured there. Thirteen days after the consulate was attacked with a knife, France is under attack again.”

Rodríguez also tweeted that a Greek security officer was seriously injured in the attack on Wednesday.

A knife attack on a church in France has killed three people, including the French consulate in Jeddah.

A Greek diplomat told the Reuters news agency that four people were slightly injured in the attack. One of them is a Greek citizen.

The French Foreign Ministry has asked the Saudi Arabian authorities to “investigate the incident and find those involved in the attack.”

Furthermore, French citizens stationed in Saudi Arabia have been asked to exercise “extreme caution”.

On October 29, a security guard at the French embassy in Jeddah was stabbed. A Saudi national carried out the attack. On the same day, three people were killed in a knife attack in the French city of Nice.
