On the same day, Supreme Court Justice Chandrachur said: “The Bombay High Court has erred in not granting bail to the three defendants, including Arnab Goswami, editor-in-chief of Republic Media Network. They are given a provisional bond with a surety of Rs 50,000. The Police Commissioner must take immediate action in accordance with this directive. Arnab Goswami was released on bail. Applicants are asked to cooperate in the investigation. The private bond should be sent to the jail supervisor.
Arnab Goswami had filed an application in the Supreme Court on Monday after the Bombay High Court denied him bail. Police arrested Arnab at Orly’s home Wednesday on charges of inciting the suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother. He was in preventive detention for 14 days. Arnav was kept in a prisoner quarantine center at the Alibag municipal school.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Maharashtra Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh expressed concern for Arnab Goswami’s safety and health and spoke with the state’s Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshiyari. He told the minister that his family should be allowed to meet Arnab. He was also using a mobile phone while in court custody. He was also active on social media. As soon as the matter became known to investigators, the Raigad police removed the editor-in-chief of Republic TV from Nabi Mumbai Taloja Jail.
Arnab was heard yelling from the police van as Taloja was taken to jail. That video was broadcast on Republic TV. Arnab is heard saying: ‘My life is in danger. I can’t speak to a lawyer. They pushed and harassed me this morning. They said they would not allow me to speak to a lawyer. Please let the people of the country know that my life is in danger. ‘
